Our Life Together

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church is a welcoming community centered around Eucharistic worship and dedicated to sharing God’s love not only with our lips, but with our lives. We seek to live out Jesus’ call to proclaim good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives, and to let the oppressed go free. As a Jubilee community, we are committed to God’s command to live justly and to practice liberating love.

Our Beliefs

St. Andrew's Creed

We believe in the one God, holy mystery, revealed as three persons in communion: ruler and servant, dove and fire, beyond thought and saying, as near as our next breath. We believe that God, the creator of all things, is making heaven and earth from beginning to end. We believe that all people are made in the image of God and commanded to care for creation.

We believe in Jesus Christ, eternal God, who laid aside power and became human. In the reign of Caesar Augustus he was born to Mary, a Jewish peasant girl. Welcoming sinners and listening to them, Jesus invited people into God’s reign of peace and justice. For this he was tortured and killed by well-meaning people whom he loved. Rising from the grave, he destroyed death. Jesus is alive and with us. We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Christ will come again to make all things new.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the light of God, who speaks through the prophets. Breath of life, cleansing fire, fount of wisdom, peace, and healing, the Spirit is the sent sender and force of love who unites the body of Christ. The Spirit comforts and guides the people of God, empowering them to do God’s will.

We believe in one people of God, the church throughout the world, imperfect, forgiven, and called to be holy. The church is gathered in worship, grounded in scripture and sacraments, and sent out to bear witness to God’s reign, to seek and serve Christ in every human being.
